Cocoa & Crafts-A Sweet Birthday Card

Wow! I can't believe March is almost over. We are on the last project for this month's Cocoa & Crafts class. Today we are going to make a simple birthday card.

I hope you are enjoying the Cocoa & Crafts classes. I am running a little behind on my projects for next month, as we are currently in the middle of a "quick" renovation here. We're just rearranging rooms which means painting and organizing. Unfortunately, it's not going as "quick" as I'd hoped. We are currently on day 4. One room is pretty much done, the second one is painted. Just getting some new shelves put in and then it's time to organize. Until that happens, I have very little access to my crafty stuff. I'm going to push hard today and try and get the room finished so I can have my craft room back. Here's a scary picture of what I'm dealing with today:

Yeah, that doesn't count the 25+ boxes that are in my hubby's office right now. Uffda. I've got way too much stuff!! Anyway, I hope you are having a super week, and if you don't hear from me soon, someone send help!

Till next time (which I hope is soon!)...

Cocoa & Crafts-Sweet Ice Cream Shaker Card

Hello there on this fine spring day. At least, I hope it's a fine spring day when this goes live. It is today, temps almost hit 60, I think. My first crocus bloomed this morning. 😊

Apparently, in the craft room today, we are skipping spring and heading straight for summer with this super yummy, sweet ice cream shaker card. Shaker cards are always fun, don't you think?

Who wouldn't want a triple scoop bowl of ice cream for their birthday? Especially since calories don't count when it's your birthday, at least not in our family anyway. I'm not exactly sure what flavors these are, but they do look fun. Let's make it.

The measurements are pretty simple. I just used a half sheet of paper for the card base and scored that in half. (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4) The Bermuda Bay layer is 5 1/4 x 4 with the center cut out with a stitched rectangle die. The window sheet was cut just a tad bit smaller than the Bermuda Bay layer. (5 x 3 3/4). The Happy Birthday banner is 1 x 4 with the end cut with the banner punch. Oh, and the bowl is a 2 1/4 circle cut in half.

Here's a list of supplies needed if you didn't get a kit:

I will be back next week with the last card for this class. I'm looking forward to it. I've also been having fun planning the projects for April, and I have to say they are SO CUTE!!! Can't wait to share them with you!

Till next time...

Cocoa & Crafts-A Sweet Card With a Surprise

Hello, hello, hello. How are things in your neck of the woods today? It has been warmer here, but we're expecting a little snow this week. Not too much to worry about though. I was surprised to see some of my crocus peeping their little tops out of the garden this week. Seems kind of early for us. Ah, but summer will be here soon enough, and wouldn't this card be just a perfect gift for someone then?

There's a cool surprise inside. It's a gift card or money holder. Super, super easy to make. Let's get started:

The measurements are pretty simple this time as it's just a card base and some DSP rectangles.

Card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 1 1/4 and 4 1/4 on the long side

DSP rectangles: 5 1/2 x 1/14 and 5 1/2 x 1 1/2

That's it! Quick card with a fun surprise.

In next week's class we're going to make a birthday shaker card. Hope you can join in on the fun!

Till next time...

Cocoa & Crafts--A chocolate surprise!

Hello there, and welcome to March! Today we are starting this month's Cocoa & Crafts class with a double slider chocolate treat holder. Well, that's a mouthful! I remember making double slider cards many, many years ago when I first started as a Stampin' Up! demo. This is the same concept but a bit thicker to make room for a Ghirardelli square to hide inside.

I was scrolling through Youtube looking for ideas when I came across this project on Stamp Around the Corner.  I did tweak the measurements just slightly as my wrappers seemed to be a little longer than the ones she used and I didn't want them peeking out. This is such a fun project, and is actually easier than it seems.

Here are the measurements I used:

  • Base: 7 1/2 x 3
    • score along the long side at 3/8, 3/4, 2 7/8, 3 1/4 and 5 3/8
    • cut notches top and bottom of the large rectangle portion on the end.
  • Slide out base (chocolate side): 2 x 3 1/8 (cut end with tag punch)
  • Slide out base (sentiment side): 2 x 2 5/8 (round corners of one short side)
  • White sentiment piece: 1 7/8 x 2 1/2 (round corners of one short side)
And, as usual, if you didn't get the Cocoa & Crafts kit for this month, here's the items you would need to make this project:

I will be back next week with project #2, a fun card that doubles as a gift card/money holder. See you then!

Till next time...
