Throwback Thursday-Dainty Delight

Hello there! It's Throwback Thursday today. I found the Ice Cream card in my stash this last week and thought it would be a fun layout to revisit with a newer stamp set and paper. This layout has a simple fold that allows for a pocket on the inside of the card to put a gift card or money, or any other little flat thing you'd like to put in there (tea bag, love note, etc.)

Dimensions for this card are:

  • Card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 1 1/4 and 4 1/4
  • Right side Designer Series Paper panel: 5 1/2 x 1 1/2
  • Left side Designer Series Paper panel: 5 1/2 x 1 1/4
I think this card would work well as a birthday card, or even for a graduation.

I hope you have enjoyed today's post. If you decide to place an order through my website, if your order is less than $150, please use the Host Code listed above (on the right), so I can send you an extra free goody. If your order is over $150 don't use the code as you get to pick out the goody yourself when you place your order.

Fun Fold Friday-A Legendary Slider

Hello there! I'm here today with a super Fun Fold Friday!! I have to admit, I almost didn't post this card though. It took three tries to get the video done correctly (completely user error with the camera). That wouldn't have been a big deal except I only have one pack of the Ready to Ride Designer Series Paper right now (definitely going to have to remedy that quick!) which means I only have two of the gas station panels, so I had to tear the card apart twice to make sure I could get a good video for you. Thankfully our DSP is pretty durable and I was able to make it work.

As promised, here are the dimensions for this fun card:
  • Card base 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/8 and 8 1/4 on the long side. Cut slit 1 inch from the 1/4 inch section (see video)
  • Gas station panel was cut from DSP
  • Inside Panel 4 x 5
  • Outside road 1 1/8
  • Inside road 1 1/16
  • Scrap piece for attaching motorcycle about 3 inch length and 1/2 - 1 inch wide (see video)
  • Ribbon 2 1/2 inches
I hope you like it!!

I hope you have enjoyed today's post. Watercolor Wednesday-Smooshing background

Hello there! I'm here today to share a quick, super fun watercolor technique. Well, it's quick to do, but there is some dry time in there. It's been a while since I've used this technique, and I always enjoy how unpredictable it is. You never know what your background is going to look like until it's dry.

I love the bright colors of the background against the black. It really makes the colors pop!

Measurements:
  • Card base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
  • Front and inside panels: 4 x 5 1/4
  • Sentiment piece: 3/4 x 3

I hope you have enjoyed today's post. If you decide to place an order through my website, if your order is less than $150, please use the Host Code listed above (on the right), so I can send you an extra free goody. Fun Fold Friday-Cheerful Basket

Hello there! How are you on this beautiful day? I'm not sure what the weather looks like where you are, but here in Wisconsin we are, once again, having a bit of a snowfall. It's looking like spring is going to be a long time in coming for us. I'm ok with that as it gives me another excuse to stay inside and craft, however, my tulips would probably like to wake up from their winter nap sometime before fall.

The view from my deck this week. There's a flower bed under all that snow!

I hope you like the card I designed for today. It has a little flap that tucks behind the heart-filled basket just to give the card a little extra something.

Measurements for this card:

  • Card base- 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
  • Base flap piece- 5 1/2 x 2 1/4 scored on short side at 1/2. Mark 3/4 from score on top edge. Cut from score to bottom corner. (see video)
  • Blue DSP panel- 5 1/4 x 4
  • Yellow DSP panel- 5 1/4 x 1 1/2 (see video for cutting)
  • Inside panel- 5 1/4 x 4 OR 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 if you want less of the seam to show
I really like this stamp and die set. Now that I've pulled it out, I'll have to play with it a bit more.

Watercolor Wednesday-Blessings of Home

Hello there! This last weekend we had yet another snow storm here in Wisconsin, so I spent an afternoon sipping hot cocoa and doing some water coloring.

I first stamped the large bouquet from the Blessings of Home stamp set with Gray Granite ink onto scrap paper twice before stamping onto our Fluid 100 Watercolor paper. This gave me a pale outline to guide me that would mostly disappear as I painted.

My palette was an acrylic block with drops of re-inker on it. While I love our Water Painters, the details in this image really requires a tiny paintbrush. I also liked having a little more control over how much water was on the brush as I worked, so I used a round #2 brush.

After spending so much time painting this image, I wanted to use it on something that could hang around on my desk all the time so I decided to cover a notepad with it.

Apparently I like using this stamp set for notepads because I have another one here on the blog. If you're interested in the measurements for the cover and how to attach the pen, you can check out this post

However, on my previous notepad I really only decorated the outside of the cover. For this one I decided to cover the top of the notepad itself and add a little receipt pocket to the inside flap.

I first stamped the large bouquet onto some scrap Night of Navy cardstock and then cut it down to size. The notepad topper is 3 x 5. I used a die from the Eden die set to cut one long edge and then just wrapped it around the top securing both ends with Tear & Tape. The pocket is 5 x 4 with one corner rounded. I used a bowl as a guide for the corner. I used more Tear & Tape to adhere the edges to the inside flap.

To make the small flowers on the front, I put random swashes of Petal Pink and Blushing Bride on a scrap piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor paper and then cut them out with the Sentimental Park dies. A little shaping and a Champange Rhinestone in the center and they were the perfect little filler flowers.

Have I mentioned before how much I love this set? It is so pretty, and makes such a grand statement on a project. Love, love, love!

Teacup Tuesday-Cup of Tea

Hello there! For those that have been around my crafty corner of the world for a while you will know that I like tea cups. My handsome hubby would often bring a teacup back from whatever country he was deployed to. I've also inherited several from friends and family, and of course, I have been known to have a tea cup or two jump into my arms when strolling through vintage shops.

Tea cups and tea pots come in all shapes and sizes and I thought they would be a great source of inspiration for card making. For this card I was inspired by the color, shape and simple patterns of this tea pot and matching cups. I also wanted to make a unique card with a pocket to hold a tea bag for gifting so I wrapped the paper from the front to the inside and made a pocket out of it.

The measurements are super simple. Each piece starts out as a half sheet of paper, scored in the middle. 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4

Irresistible Blooms Shaker Box

Hello there! I am here today to share this super fun shaker box with you. I knew I wanted to give this a try as soon as I saw the dies for this set. This ends up being a pretty good sized box that you could fit lots of goodies in and then the recipient has a pretty box to keep as well.

I forgot to mention in the video that I did not stamp the flower that is on the Blushing Bride box. That one was die cut from the flower print paper in the  Hello, Irresistible Designer Series Paper pack. I think if I make this again I will heat emboss in white to get the same effect.

Dimensions:

  • Box top 8 x 6
    • scored on short side at 1 and 5 (or 1 inch in from both sides)
    • scored on long side at 1, 2, 6, 7 (or 1 and 2 inches in from both sides)
  • Box bottom 7 7/8 x 7 7/8
    • scored at 2 and 5 7/8 in both directions (or 2 inches in from each side)

Throwback Thursday-Joseph's Coat Technique

Hello there! Today I'm doing a little throwback to a technique I haven't done in years. You start with a plain white piece of cardstock and end up with these beautiful vibrant colors standing out against a dark background. It's called Joseph's coat and it's really kind of like magic!

It's just basic dimensions for today's card:

  • Card base- 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
  • Front and inside panels- 5 1/4 x 4
