Throwback Thursday Legendary Ride

Hello there! I'm back today with a little Throwback Thursday for you. My handsome hubby needed a thank you card this week and he wanted it to have a camera on it. So I pulled out my retired Pun Intended stamp set to create the card on the right.

I cannot take credit for the design as I cased it from Elizabeth over at Seeing Ink Spots. I just changed up one of the colors and used different dies for the background cut-outs. I used Pale Papaya instead of the retired Peakaboo Peach, and I used Tasteful Labels dies instead of the Tags and Labels framelits. I also stamped my camera on separate paper and fussy cut it out rather than stamping it directly on the background piece.

I then decided I wanted to use the same layout with a current stamp set, so I got to play with Legendary Ride again. For this card I opted to use watercolor paper instead of Shimmery White. I brushed a wash of Smoky Slate, Garden Green and Balmy Blue to simulate asphalt, grass and sky. I stamped the sentiment and the little grass cluster (which you can barely see in this photo behind the front tire) onto the background once it was dry and then die cut two squares from the Stylish Shapes Die set. The squares were popped up from the background on Stampin' Dimensionals. The motorcycle was stamped and cut separate and lifted on another layer of Dimensionals. A simple watercolor on the grass cluster on the inside and this card was done.

What do you think? This card could easily be done without the die cut shapes in the background, but I think it adds a little more dimension and interest to the card without overpowering it.

One little note, when stamping on textured paper such as our watercolor paper, or stamping with a solid image like the motorcycle, I HIGHLY recommend using the Stamparatus so you can stamp several times to get a nice solid image.  Also, make sure your ink is dry before you run it through your die cut machine so you don't end up with an ink shadow like my sentiment above. 😣

I hope you have enjoyed today's post. If you decide to place an order through my website, if your order is less than $150, please use the Host Code listed above (on the right), so I can send you an extra free goody. If your order is over $150 don't use the code as you get to pick out the goody yourself when you place your order.

Till next time...
God's love and blessings!
